Why film?

If Tarkovsky’s vision of cinema is sculpting time, then 16mm film is white marble. When film reacts to light, it is absorbing a physical piece of a moment. It is capturing that light forever within that frame in a way that is tangible.

That is impossible to beat.

Where are you filming?

Santa Cruz Campus and Salt Point State Park in Northern California.

Didn’t you guys already film this?

We did! Partly. The weekend of filming there was a rainstorm, the worst of which California has ever seen, called an atmospheric river. It stopped us from getting a lot of the shooting done. We are looking at this as an opportunity to create something better upon that foundation we laid.
